In 2007 while studying in college, Lana worked as an assistant director on several feature films until she graduated in 2010 with a B.A in journalism and decided to postpone her dream of becoming a director to instead pursue a career as a writer, working as a magazine editor then as a columnist for Egypt’s largest newspaper Al Masry Al Youm.
Until 2013 when by mere chance she was offered a job as a copywriter at BBDO Cairo then at JWT cairo.
She later quit her job and started working with online content boutiques then as a freelance content developer.
Until she was given a brief to work on „Clorox“, she found a challenge to create something interesting with a tiny budget and directed three copies for the campaign which went viral and that many considered a fresh take on detergent commercials.
She also directed digital spots for Emirates NBD bank, Orange and El Gouna.. The latter also went viral creating quite the controversy.
Her main ambition is to focus on developing fresh and stylish online content and to direct perfume ads.
