Maren Langer

Biography

Maren Langer is a director based in Berlin. Growing up in a small town in the middle of Germany, she was always a storyteller with a huge imagination.

During her studies in fashion design and visual communication at the Berlin University of the Arts as well as Filmmaking at Pratt Institute New York, she developed her multidisciplinary approach of bringing all these mediums together to tell her stories.

Maren‘s background in applied arts is integral in her films.
Always focused on strong conceptional ideas and highly aestheticised images, her approach to filmmaking is a very personal one. Maren’s aim is to tell honest stories, putting her audience into a certain atmosphere of deep emotions. With a lot of empathy and sensibility, she always reveals the not-obvious and a new perspective on how we see, feel and create our world. She is interested in blurring the lines between documentary and fiction as well as adding a strong female voice to the film and advertising industry.

Maren’s range of work includes all genres of narrative shorts – from commercial, music video, fashion film to documentary. She also works as a creative director for stills and moving image. With her natural curiosity and whole lot of discipline, Maren loves getting involved in every step of the process.
